A Good Cigar Can Be Found in Orlando

Sure, anti-smoking legislation has limited the places you can find and enjoy a good cigar (even in Florida), but that also means that for those of us who do enjoy the occasional stogie those few places where we still can are also places where we’ll find like-minded individuals. It’s always more pleasant to be in the company of those who share your hobby, rather than to foist your smoke on those who would prefer not to smell it.

Orlando is a great place to find these elusive cigar connoisseurs’ retreats. Whether you need a break from the theme park action, want a classic cigar bar with a good selection of complimentary adult beverages, or are simply trying to track down that oh-so-rare brand that has eluded your usual tobacconist, Orlando may hold the answer. Below you’ll find my personal suggestions for where to find stogies in the Orlando area.

I’m also gonna go ahead and assume that if you’ve made it this far down the post that you are a cigar smoker yourself. As a cigar smoker, whether frequent or occasional, use the comments to tell us what you think of these places. Do you have a favorite place in the Orlando area to pick up a few sticks, or relax with a nice churchill?

Corona Cigar Company
7792 W. Sand Lake Rd.
Orlando, FL 32819
1-888-70-CIGAR
I stop into Corona Cigars just about every time I’m in Orlando. It’s close to several great restaurants like Seasons 52, Amura, and Bonefish Grill, making it an ideal stop after dinner, and they also have a nice patio area for their customers to enjoy. In fact, I once saw Avo Uvezian of Avo Cigars sitting out front reading the newspaper, so you never know who you’ll run into. The most famous aspect of Corona Cigar is probably that the entire store is humidified, allowing them to display rows and rows of open cigar boxes, and as a result their selection is fantastic!. My only complaint about Corona Cigar is that, though their prices are overall pretty good, they do seem to mark up the harder to find brands a little more than normal. the result is you can usually find rare cigars there, but they may cost a few more dollars than you expected.

They also have a second location in Lake Mary, but I have yet to visit that one.

Sosa Family Cigars
Downtown Disney
When I hit the parks, whether with family or friends, we always end up at Downtown Disney. There’ are several really good restaurants there, and lots of fun shops for both grown-ups and kids. Sosa Family Cigars obviously falls into the grown-up category. The bad news here is they’ve got to pay a Disney sized rent, which unfortunately means we, the customers, get to pay premium prices, but the good news is their selection is very good, and it’s incredibly convenient. If you’ve spent the day at Disney with the family, and you’re anything like me, you’re going to be ready to relax when you get back to the hotel, and this is an easy stop on the way out. Treat the crew to dinner at one the fun Downtown Disney eateries (and definitely stop by Ghirardelli for a sundae, you’ll thank me later), then treat yourself to a hand-rolled stogie to enjoy back on your hotel balcony.

Fuego Cigar Bar by Sosa
Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney
I don’t yet have any children, which means on my trips to Disney I get to explore the more grown-up experiences that the parks have to offer. Fuego is a fairly new addition to Pleasure Island (an area I used to avoid, as I’ve never been a nightclub kind of guy), and is slightly hidden, tucked under the radio booth. I was pleasantly surprised the first time I ventured in. Though it’s small, Fuego is a modern, elegant cigar bar, with a reasonable selection of smokes as well as a good selection of spirits. And the best part is that if they don’t have the stogie you’re looking for, you can probably find a short walk away at the main Sosa store. In my experience, Fuego is a good spot to take refuge from the traditional nightclub crowd, or to stop off for a cocktail and a smoke between clubs.
